Hawaii State Series Results!

Wheeler BMX track, run by Island BMX Association, in cooperation with Army  youth services recently held Hawaii's State Championship series. Located on Wheeler Army airfield, riders competed in a two-day, two race series on September 11, and 12. Champions were crowned in various age group divisions and two bicycle size divisions 20" wheel (class) and 24"or larger wheel (cruiser). More than 200 people were in attendance to be a part of this once a year event. Riders from Kauai, California and Australia also joined in to make this an international race. The one lap sprint race around the 1140-foot track is 45 seconds of pure adrenaline, just under a minute for the little guys. The course consists of 5 banked turns and 19 jumps ranging in size from one foot tall to six feet. BMX is not just for kids, age classes start at 5 and under and go up to 51 and over, along with girls divisions too. Races are every Saturday, sign ups from 2:00 - 3:00 PM racing starts ASAP.
