We'll make this quick. I had a great time at the most recent Old Man Skatepark Trip but it took me four hours to recover from every hour I spent in the half-pipe, and three weeks later I'm still limping up the stairs, which has forced me to accept something I have been denying for two years now, namely that I no longer have enough in my knees left to race, even after last year's surgery. My career, such as it has been, is over.
It's my opinion that people who do not race have no business being involved in this "industry", track directors and volunteers excepted. Therefore I am voting myself off this island effective immediately. I encourage all the other non-racers, "team managers", and "marketing hotshots" who are sucking the lifeblood out of this sport to follow my example - not that they would give up their meager meal ticket out of something as useless to them as principle.
In the next couple months this site will be reorganized into a searchable archive format, so the 473,115 words of BMX articles we have here on the site will be easier to browse and access.
It has been seventeen years since I first picked up a BMX bike. They have been good years and I wouldn't trade them. I hope you all feel the same way.
In the immortal words of L.L. Cool J, "Thanks to G-d and everyone who feels they deserve thanks."
